The U.S. Department of Treasury"s decision to postpone its mid-April report labeling China a"currency manipulator" was all but expected. Beijing Review reporters Chen Wen and Liu Yunyunattended a discussion titled "Does China"s Present Currency Valuation Undermine the GlobalEconomy?" held at the Center on U.S.-China Relations of the Asia Society on April 26. At the discus-sion, Albert Keidel, senior fellow with the Atlantic Council of the United States, argued against the ideathat China"s currency policy is damaging the global economy.
